High School Program

Students and OHLA staff

This program is valid for students planning to enter grade 9, 10, 11 or 12.
Students enter the US under an F-1 student visa issued by the school district.
The F-1 visa is only valid for 1 year and cannot be extended or renewed.
In Miami, students can choose between an Academic Year, Semester or Trimester program.
In Orlando, students can choose between an Academic Year or Semester program.
In each city, students select 3 high schools amongst our pre-selected Public High Schools and OHLA guarantees placement in one.
Students entering 12thgrade can earn an American high school diploma in only 1 year.
Upon receiving their high school diploma, students are eligible to apply to any US University or
College.
Student resides with a Host Family while attending the program.
In each city, private High School placement is available.

Admission Requirements

OHLA has students from all over the world

Students must be between 15 and 17 ½ years of age at the time of arrival.
Students must be currently at Secondary School in their home country.
Student must have completed at least eight but no more than eleven years of Primary and Secondary study, exclusive of Kindergarten.
Students already graduated from High School in their home country.
Students cannot have repeated any grades.
Students must carry at least a B average.
Students are to be have at least two or more years of successful English training.
Students are to be are able to communicate with their Host Families and School Officials in English.
Students are to demonstrate maturity, good character, and scholastic aptitude with above average grade in their home country.
Students are to be in excellent health and demonstrate no emotional disorder.

In Miami, students can choose amongst the top 10 Public High Schools under the jurisdiction of the Miami-Dade Public School District.
In Orlando, students can choose from the top 10 Public High Schools under the jurisdiction of the Orange Public School District
In both cities, students can ask for private high school place information.
For students who need extra help in improving their English skills, ESOL classes are offered at each school at no additional cost.
Extracurricular activities are offered at each school, such as sports, band, art class, social clubs, etc.

OHLA has students from all over the world

Provide a fully furnished private room.
Provide breakfast and dinner during school days.
Provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner during weekends.
In Miami, Host Families speak English and Spanish.
In Orlando, Host Families speak English.
Students may be paired with another international student from a different country; each student has their own room.
