The American Public High School educational system includes four grade levels, which are known as: Freshman (9th grade), sophomore (10th grade), junior (11th grade) and senior (12th grade). Students will be placed in the appropriate grade upon arrival according to their school academic history.

You can also plan to come for your final year of high school in the USA and receive an American High School Diploma, which will help you gain acceptance in an American University or College of your choice!

The Bilingual Experience in Miami
Our High School Program in Miami is truly a unique experience, in fact this program is called the “Mixed High School Program” as students attend an English High School and live with a Host family that speaks English and Spanish. Towards the end of your program, you would not only master the English Language but also Spanish.

Welcoming Week Activities

Students are required to arrive a 4 to 7 days prior to the school’s official start date. The purpose of this early arrival is to help students get ready for school enrollment, have their compulsory medical exam, receive their formal orientation, and meet representatives of OHLA and the school district. We will also assist students in getting situated in the city and show them a little bit of what their destination of choice has to offer. These are the following activities that are part of the “welcoming week”.

Testimonials

One of the best things that happened to me is that I joined the soccer team and to practice a lot. I am very happy with my host family because on the weekends we do many things together. I can talk with them about everything.

Markus from Germany

I have a very good relationship with my host family because they always make me feel at home. At the school I really feel good. I like my classes and I really found a lot of friends. I go with them to the beach, to parties and they sometimes come to my house to do homework. Last Saturday I went with my friends to South Beach. We had fun. We also visited downtown Miami.

Maria Pia from Italy

I am so happy because I do many activities with my host sister. We go to the same school, we have the same friends, and we go together to different activities and parties. It is a lot of fun!!! Everything is new for me so I cannot say what it is the best. I am so happy and I am very glad that I made the decision to come to Miami.
